Conservation

Wilmar takes a holistic and science-based approach to conservation, integrating biodiversity protection, sustainable land management and community engagement across our operations. We are deeply committed to biodiversity conservation across our operations and supply chain.

Since 2005, we have invested in conservation through the adoption of High Conservation Value (HCV) assessments. In 2013, we expanded our efforts to include High Carbon Stock (HCS) areas, which are now embedded in our No Deforestation, No Peat, No Exploitation (NDPE) Policy.

Today, about 10% of Wilmar’s total landbank in Malaysia, Indonesia and Africa is set aside as conservation areas. These areas cover a wide range of ecosystems—from lowland and hill dipterocarp forests to peatlands and mangroves—each with its own unique biodiversity and ecological value.

We work closely with local communities, research partners and conservation organisations to protect critical habitats, rehabilitate degraded areas and promote coexistence between people and wildlife. Through responsible practices such as zero deforestation, peatland protection and the establishment of ecological corridors, Wilmar strives to ensure that agricultural productivity goes hand in hand with environmental stewardship.
