Wildlife Ranger Programme
Wilmar is among the few oil palm companies in Malaysia with government-appointed Honorary Wildlife Rangers and Wardens stationed across our operations in Sabah and Sarawak.
These dedicated volunteers, drawn from our plantation managers and staff, receive rigorous classroom and field training to strengthen our in-house capacity for wildlife protection and conservation management.
Empowered under the law, our rangers are frontliners in safeguarding biodiversity within our conservation areas. Their work includes conducting regular patrols, monitoring HCV zones, setting up roadblocks along key access routes and intercepting illegal hunting activities.
Confiscated weapons or wildlife parts are promptly handed over to the respective Wildlife Departments for further action and prosecution.
Through their vigilance and commitment, our rangers embody Wilmar’s ongoing dedication to protecting wildlife and preserving the ecological integrity of our plantation landscapes.
