High Carbon Stock (HCS)

River landscape in Wilmar’s conservation area

Tropical forests hold large stores of carbon and biodiversity, which are released and lost when these forests are cleared.

In line with our No Deforestation, No Peat, No Exploitation (NDPE) Policy, Wilmar adheres to the High Carbon Stock (HCS) Approach, a methodology that distinguishes forests areas for protection from degraded lands with low carbon and biodiversity values that may be developed. It aims to balance ecological and environmental values with the customary rights of indigenous peoples and benefits to local communities.

Following the HCS Approach, assessments are conducted by registered HCS assessors using the latest HCS Approach Toolkit. The HCS reports will be subjected to peer review to ensure the quality of report
