Conservation of Bukit Durang in the Fragmented Production Landscape

The Bukit Durang Conservation Area (BDCA) is a fragmented forest within Wilmar plantations and the largest High Conservation Value (HCV) areas, totaling 994.60ha in Sarawak operation. To date, a total of 39 species of small mammals, 58 species of birds, 24 species of amphibians, 41 species of fish, crayfish and prawns have been recorded. The presence of various species of conservation importance in the area indicates the Bukit Durang is a critical biodiversity refuge for landscape conservation and maintenance of ecosystem function. Long term systematic biodiversity monitoring is the key focus of BDCA.
