High Conservation Area Restoration
Location: Central Kalimantan, Indonesia
Last Update: 01/09/2024
As part of the implementation of the NDPE Policy, Wilmar has designated a portion of its oil palm plantation concession area in Central Kalimantan as a High Conservation Value (HCV) area, based on expert identification related to the HCV and High Carbon Stock (HCS) area assessment. A Management and Monitoring Plan for the HCV area has been developed. To enhance the quality of wildlife habitat in the HCV area, a tree nursery has been established, currently housing approximately 75,000 tree seedlings in our Central Kalimantan Project (CKP). In 2024, Wilmar planted approximately 18,940 seedlings in the HCV area, covering an area of approximately 43 hectares. Since 2015, the total tree planting from this restoration activity amounts to approximately 232,893 tree seedlings, covering an area of approximately 578 hectares. This rehabilitation and restoration project is conducted in riverbank areas, HCV areas, and degraded areas.
