Riparian Rehabilitation of Sg. Danum for Primate Conservation

Riparian zone of Sg. Danum (formerly known as Sg. Segama), a 47km stretch, has been extended from its original width of 20 meters to 50 meters, which increases the riparian area to 381 hectares from the initial 94 hectares. A total of 68,000 seedlings of 19 natives species were planted from 2009 to 2014.  The riparian reserve now serves as a wildlife habitat, functioning as a corridor for various Rare, Threatened and Endangered (RTE) primate species, including the Silvered Langur (Trachypithecus cristatus) and the iconic Proboscis Mondkey (Nasalis larvatus). The riparian rehabilitation efforts contribute significantly to supporting the populaiton stability of primate along Sg. Danum.
